San Pedro River Valley Fine Art Prints – Southern Arizona USA

A few precious pics! Arizona's desert valley with a rare river clinging to life—my nature art capturing an iconic and imperiled landscape. Unique wall art for southwestern interiors by Murray Bolesta.

One of Arizona's Last Free-Flowing Rivers

The San Pedro River is a miracle of survival. Once Arizona boasted several perennial rivers—the Santa Cruz, the Gila, the Salt—all reduced to dry, concrete-channeled ghosts by a century of ranching, farming, groundwater pumping, and urban sprawl. The San Pedro  endures as Arizona's undammed, free-flowing river, its cottonwood-willow corridor sheltering more than 400 bird species and serving as a critical flyway between Mexico and the Rocky Mountains. Inhabited since the time of the Hohokam and crossed by Coronado in 1540, this valley carries millennia of human history. Today, unchecked groundwater depletion threatens to silence it forever—making these photographs an urgent and loving record of something irreplaceable.
