Rocky Point / Puerto Peñasco Mexico Fine Art Prints – Sea of Cortez!

Here's a few charming old seaside Mexico scenes from the Sea of Cortez—original fine art prints by Murray Bolesta

From Fishing Village to Resort Town

Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, began as a remote Sonoran Desert fishing village in the 1920s with a major shrimping fleet. Today, mass tourism and resort development have transformed the coastline, bringing economic opportunity alongside significant environmental pressure on the fragile Upper Gulf of California ecosystem.

Nature Under Pressure...

The critically endangered vaquita porpoise—the world's smallest cetacean—clings to survival in these waters, with fewer than a dozen individuals remaining. The Alto Golfo Biosphere Reserve and conservation organizations work hard to protect marine and desert habitats, while illegal fishing and unchecked coastal development remain serious threats to this irreplaceable ecosystem.

Each of my artworks is produced with meticulous attention to detail, tonality, and composition, available as museum-quality unframed prints or ready-to-hang canvas wraps!
