Wupatki National Monument Fine Art Prints – Arizona Red Rock Country

Ancient pueblo architecture rising from Arizona's painted desert—captured in gallery-quality fine art prints by Murray Bolesta. My small collection of images reveal the grandeur of Wupatki National Monument with reverence for its remarkable human story.

A Thousand Years of History

When Sunset Crater Volcano erupted around 1085 AD, its ash enriched the surrounding soil, drawing ancestral peoples to this high desert plateau north of Flagstaff, Arizona. The Ancestral Puebloan peoples and others converged here, building a remarkable multi-cultural community that flourished for over a century. By 1225 AD, the communities had mysteriously disperse.

Architecture of Enduring Power

These red sandstone walls—built without mortar by master masons—stand as testament to human ingenuity in an unforgiving landscape, and to the Hopi, Zuni, and Navajo peoples who count Wupatki among their ancestral homelands.

My artworks are available as museum-quality unframed prints or ready-to-hang canvas wrap!
